Thanks for your thoughful comments. I'm glad you liked this piece. Sadly, I do have the experience of the women that were hurt by Jack and Ennis and their undeniable love. I was engaged to a gay man for many years, a situation from which no good can come, according to most people. I always hope to buck that trend and harness some of Lureen and Alma's pain in a way that portrays them with integrity while recognizing the men's love as a thing of beauty.
