Jack squirmed awake, opening one sleepy pool of molten sapphire to the morning sun that flowed into their bedroom.

“What’re ya doin?” he asked grumpily.

“Jus’ havin’ a nibble,” answered Ennis.

“That tickles.”

“Uh huh,” said Ennis, resuming his attention.

“Why ya always hafta nibble on ‘em?” asked Jack, squeezing Ennis’s head out of the way by compressing the space between his chin and right shoulder.

“Guess I jus’ like yer beauty marks.”

“Ya like makin’ me ticklish.”

“Mmm, like ya ticklish too,” said Ennis, rubbing Jack’s left earlobe to expose his favorite nibbling grounds again. “More beautiful that way.”

Thank you so much! It means the world to me that you liked this drabble! I hope you realize that Jack's "sleepy pools of molten sapphire" are at least 2/3 yours from your- “melted pools of burning sapphire!” Damn, there’s only so many ways to describe those damn eyes! I thought topaz may work as well?

Interesting. Although just saying Topaz I think would conjure up yellow to most people, especially if they were born in November. It's my birthstone and I've never been really fond of it. You'd probably have to say "blue topaz"

That isn't a very brilliant blue. Certainly no match for Jack's eyes! I wonder if it's just the picture?

I think it's just the picture. Next time you're in a jewelry store, check out the blue topaz. I did yesterday! It's a nice color and it actually does look like the color of his eyes. Maybe you can put some gems on your birthday wish list?!
